Forum: movies Subject: Should I upload the CSPAN digital futures episode with Brewster?

I saw that Brewster was going to be on CSPAN today:

and was wondering if it'd be ok to upload it to the open source movies area (I can yank it as an mpeg from a PVR), or if CSPAN will have it under copyright?

C-SPAN owns the copyright, so it would seem you cannot meet the Archive's "click-wrap" terms you agree to when uploading it. However, Archive curators seem to approve plenty of C-SPAN material, so the copyright issue does not seem to bother them. I have heard various fair use arguments, I'd be interested to read about the outcome of a court case that tested some of them :)

If you do upload it, label it clearly and don't give it a CC license.
